COVID numbers jump in Cameron Parish

The number of positive COVID-19 tests in Cameron Parish jumped to 89 on Wednesday, July 8, an increase of 32 in two days. The sudden increase is being attributed to results coming in from recent testing efforts.

Cameron Parish Administrator Katie Armentor said, “We knew the number of positive cases would increase once we expanded testing efforts.

Fortunately, we do not have any hospitalizations or deaths. We do not get any demographic information on cases because of HIPPA laws. The Office of Public Health does have the information and is prepared to step in should they determine we have a problem with our infection rate vs. hospitalization/death rate.”

The Office of Emergency Preparedness continues to advise the public to wash hands frequently, keep the social distancing guidelines, and wear masks in public.
