Cheryl Ann Bourque Leger, 76, of Lake Charles, died Sunday June 30, 2024 at a hospice facility.

She was 1966 graduate of LaGrange High School and attended McNeese State University, followed by a year in St. Louis at the Benedictine Convent. She married in 1971 and became a longtime resident of Baton Rouge, where she worked at the State Library in department for the blind. She was a very devoted Catholic and loved attending the Latin Mass.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Julius and Gladys Matthews Bourque; and a brother, Jim Bourque.

Survivors are her daughter, Monica Leger and husband Michael Brandyberry, Baton Rouge; siblings, Clo Mere, Mary Simon and Johnny Bourque, all of Lake Charles; and brother Brad Bourque of Sour Lake, Texas.

Funeral service was held Tuesday, July 2, at Simple Traditions by Johnson Funeral Home in Lake Charles, Father Sam Bond officiated. Burial followed at Grand Lake Community Cemetery.
