Cameron Parish Police Jury meets May 6

Cameron Parish Police Jury met for their May public voting meeting on Monday, May 6, at the conclusion of the morning Agenda meeting at Cameron Parish Police Jury West Annex – Board Room.

All jurors except Sonny McGee were in attendance.

After calling the meeting to Order the Pledge of Allegiance/Prayer were recited.

There were no public comments.

Motions were approved to Adopt the April 2024 meeting minutes and Approve Add-Ons.

All Motions passed to Approve the following other permits:

Tennessee Gas Pipeline Company, LLC -Grand Chenier, 3125 Grand Chenier Highway, (proposes installation of a 26’ bi-directional in-line inspection tool trap and removal of existing pig trap located at existing Kinetica Partners Facility Station 507F. Approximately 289cy of material will be displaced to complete project.), Cameron Parish. (240501)

Cheniere Creole Trail Pipeline L.P. – Cameron, access road at the Cameron Ferry West Landing, Section 26, T14S, R10W, (proposes one (1) geotechnical soil boring to support the design process for a proposed compressor station “Tarpon Compressor station” or “Tarpon CS.”), Cameron Parish. (240502)

Melvin Breaux – Hackberry, 132 Sam Breaux Road, (proposes construction of fishing camp, dirt pad of 120 yards of fill material hauled in.), Cameron Parish.(240503)

The following appointments were approved:

Ambulance Service District No. 1 – Chris Mooney, term expired; Logan Manuel appointed Fire Protection District No. 14 – Ron Johnson, term expired; reappointed Gravity Drainage District No. 5 – Susie Fawvor, term expired; reappointed Recreation District No. 7 – Michelle Trahan, term expired; Taylor Richard appointed Recreation District No. 9 – Vida Landry, term expired; reappointed Waterworks District No. 2 – Brian Brown, resigned; Jeffrey “Jeff” Moore appointed Mosquito Abatement Control – Remove Greg Gray; Bryce Carpenter appointed Creole Nature Trail Board – Jimmy Brown, resigned; Julie Trahan appointed

Motion approved for authority to amend Chapter 20 Article X – Waterworks Division 1: South Cameron Consolidated Waterworks Dist. No. 10 for $60 Per Diem for Members.

Motion passed for authority to amend Chapter 14 Motor Vehicles and Traffic, Article III: pertaining to golf carts.

Motion passed giving President Authority to Sign:

a. Substantially Complete for the Grand Lake Maintenance Barn,

b. Proclamation – Declare May 2024 as Cameron Community Action Month,

c. Proclamation – Declare May 2024 as Older Americans Month,

d. Beach Monitoring Program Maintenance Agreement for 2024,

Motion passed to adopt Resolution ratifying and approving resolution of the Board of Commissioners of South Cameron Consolidated Waterworks District No. One, formerly known as Waterwork District No. Seven, ordering and calling an election in said District to levy a special tax of (15.33) mills for the purposes of operating and maintaining the district’s water system within the District (Waterworks District No. Seven) in the November 5, 2024 election.

Motion passed to adopt Resolution ratifying and approving resolution of the Board of Commissioners of Gravity Drainage No. Nine ordering and calling an election in said District to renew a levied tax of (4.50) mills for the purpose of constructing, operating and maintaining the district’s drainage systems in the Nov. 5, 2024 election.

Motion passed to grant authority to get appraisal on Justin Fontenot’s property to lease for extra parking at Gary’s Landing, Lowry.
