Cameron NAACP to host three events

The Cameron Parish Branch NAACP will host three events on Saturday, July 9.

There will be a Ferry Renaming Celebration at 9:30 a.m. at the Ferry grounds. Dr. Martin L. King, Jr. Dedication Ferry, former Monkey Island Ferry, destroyed in 2005 by Hurricane Rita. Cameron Parish Br. Hon. President, Mrs. Louise Cole along with D.O.T.D., Department of Transportation and Development replaced New sign ceremonies.

Attendees will then move to the Cameron Parish Court House Judicial District #38 District Court, at 119 Smith Circle in the Court Room.

The National Prayer Day Observance will lead off the program. The annual observance was disrupted by Covid 19 and Hurricane Laura’s devastation on Aug. 27, 2020.

The day will end with Commemorating 44 years of the Cameron Chaper of the NAACP whose charter was established on June 12, 1978,

The State and National Offices, as well as the general public are invited to attend. Food will be served.
