Brandon Clyde Trahan, 54, formerly of Cameron, passed away on Tuesday, Sept. 20, 2022, surrounded by family and friends. Brandon was born Jan. 29, 1968 in Creole to Melvin and Alma Savoie Trahan.
Brandon was a 1986 graduate of South Cameron High School and a 1995 graduate of McNeese State University. He was the owner of Coastal Laundry Inc. in Cameron until Hurricane Rita. After Rita, he moved to San Francisco and graduated from the California Culinary Academy. He then moved to Las Vegas and worked at restaurants owned by Emeril Lagasse before he opened his own restaurant, Zydeco Po Boys. In 2017 he returned to Louisiana where he continued his love of cooking.
Brandon is survived by two brothers, Alfred (Claire) Trahan and Joseph (Becky) Trahan; nieces and nephews, April (Don) Trahan, Theresa Hudgins, Adam (Lori) Trahan, Paul (Sarah) Shirley, Jr., David Shirley, Samantha (Jason) Arrington, Glenn (Jenn) Trahan, Travis (Taylor) Trahan, Alayna (Liegha) Trahan, Karissa Trahan and Seth Trahan; along with many “special” nieces and nephews because of such wonderful friends. He is also survived by uncle and aunt, Jerry and Margaret Savoie; sister-in-law, Ruth Trahan; and brother-and-law, Paul Shirley.
Brandon was preceded in death by his parents; sisters, Juanita M. Primeaux and Debra T. Shirley; brother, Timothy W. Trahan; nieces, Ginger Trahan, Erica Trahan, and Debbie Shirley; his beloved dog, Rowan; and the love of his life, Aaron Martin.
The family will welcome the public for visitation Friday, Sept. 23, from 5 to 9 p.m. at J. E. Hixson & Sons Funeral Home, with a Rosary beginning at 6 p.m. Visitation will resume the following day Saturday, Sept. 24, from 9 a.m.
A celebration of Brandon’s life will be Saturday, Sept. 24, at 10 a.m. Rev. Lloyd Carroll and Rev. Wade Carroll will officiate. Burial will be held on a later date at Head of the Hollow Cemetery in Johnson Bayou.
The family would like to thank the staff at Harbor Hospice for caring for Brandon.
In lieu of flowers, Brandon requested donations be made in his name to St. Nicholas Center for Children, Louisiana Community AIDS Partnership, or Forum for Equality.
