Beatrice Marie Demarest, 83, of Grand Lake died Tuesday, Nov. 22, 2022 in a local healthcare facility.

She was born in Lake Arthur. She was raised in Lacassine and was a graduate of Lacassine High School. She lived most of her adult life in Grand Lake. She worked as a hair dresser from her hair shop, known to all as “The Beahive” where she worked for more than thirty five years. She was catholic. She served as secretary to the Evergreen Ministries.

She is survived by her children, Timothy “Timmy” Demarest of Pineville, Shelley Lavergne (Daniel) of Grand Lake, Tina Barrett (Tom) of Grand Lake, Michael Demarest (DeeAnna) of Longville, and Nathan Demarest (Leah) of Lacassine; 11 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; sisters, Bonnie Langley of Baton Rouge, Diana Gotreaux and Claudell Deshotel, both of Lacassine.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Nathan Carroll Demarest; parents, Clifton Alexander Demarest and Lillian Mae Fuselier Demarest and three infant brothers.

A Mass of Christian Burial was held Saturday, Nov. 26, at Our Lady Queen of Heaven Catholic Church under the direction of Johnson Funeral Home. Monsignor James Gaddy officiated. Interment followed in Consolata Cemetery.
