Barbara Wolfe

Feb. 5, 1939-Apr. 1, 2026

Barbara Ann Trahan Wolfe, 87, of Grand Lake, entered eternal rest on Wednesday Apr.1, 2026.

Barbara was born in Johnson Bayou on Feb. 5, 1939 as the second to the oldest of Archie and Jewel Rutherford Trahan. She grew up with six loving brothers, who looked up to their Sissy as more of a mentor than just a sister. In March of 1955, she married George Alton Wolfe, and they began their family in January of 1956. She walked through life with a quiet strength and unwavering love for her Lord and Savior. Challenges may have come, but she met them with prayer and a cup of coffee. Her steadfast love for God and her family showed a testament to perseverance and witness to unshakable love. Her cups of coffee weren’t just coffee, they were conversations, encouragement, and quiet moments of connections. Her syrup cake was simple yet unforgettable, together, they’ve become her signature–small acts of hospitality that leave a lasting mark.

Barbara was a brother wrangler, kid wrangler, grandkid wrangler, and even wrangled a few great-grandkids. When she was a member of Cameron First Baptist Church, she volunteered with Sunday School as well as Vacation Bible School. She continued volunteering as a charter member of Grand Lake Community Church.

Somewhere between corralling her family, crocheting, cooking, hummingbird watching, or gardening, Barbara went back to school to finish her diploma through the Cameron Community Action Agency with Mrs. Ruby Miller as her mentor and friend. With the motivation of her growing support system, Barbara graduated in 1998. Barbara entered the workforce in 1996 as a Bus Aide with the Cameron Parish Head Start. Then in 2001, Dinah Landry convinced her to come to work at the Cameron Council On Aging as a driver, where she remained until she retired in 2009. She was an active member as a Rockin’ Gator in the Cameron Parish Senior Olympics, where she won many awards in Local and District Game Events and made many new friends.
