Arlo Savoie

Arlo J. Savoie, of Sweet Lake, 63, passed away peacefully on Friday, Jan. 20, 2023.

Arlo was born on Apr. 5,1959, in Creole to Yank and Twila Savoie.

In his teenage years, you could find him on the weekends beating to the sound of his drums with his band, Swamp Country Band. He graduated from South Cameron High School in 1977. He worked for Roy Bailey Construction for 24 years. Arlo was dozer operator known for his house pads and perfectionism on the job. He later worked for Sweet Lake Land & Oil, where he retired after 21 years.

After retirement, he enjoyed helping out his dad and tending to outside projects. He enjoyed cooking and spending time with his family.

If you knew Arlo then you knew he was always there to lend a helping hand when you needed him.

He leaves behind his wife of 42 years, Pam Richard Savoie; two daughters, Laura Taylor (Billy) and Kayla Conner (Carl); one granddaughter, Kinley Taylor; four grandsons, Kobe (Carlee) and Kaden Taylor, John Ervin and Collin Conner; his parents, Willard “Yank” and Twila Savoie; three brothers, Shadd Savoie (Pamela), Aaron Savoie and Jess Savoie (Jenifer); mother-in-law, Geraldine Richard; and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Ivan and Ella Fontenot and John “Collin” and Lula Belle Savoie; and father-in-law Ervin Richard.

A gathering of friends and family will be held at Johnson Funeral Home in Lake Charles on Thursday, Jan. 26, from 10 a.m. until 2 p.m. with a rosary at 1 p.m. and a scripture service at 2 p.m. Interment will take place in Sweetlake Cemetery following the scripture service.
