‘A Tarpon Christmas’ provides cheer

Upon a special request by Miami Corporation Land Manager Chad Courville, Santa Claus took time off from his day job at the Cameron Parish Assessor’s Office to create “A Tarpon Christmas” for a student population left either homeless or with severally damaged homes following Hurricanes Laura and Delta.

Nearly 100% are displaced and many are bussed in daly from as far away as Kinder. As Mr. Courville noted, “Miami Corporation is proud to team up with the Cameron Lions Club to bring a bit of Christmas cheer to the community.

The impact from the 2020 storms will be felt for many months to come but this community is resilient and Miami Corporation will be here through the recovery process. The young people of Cameron Parish feel the impacts of the storms just like the adults who are trying to pick up the pieces.

This program at the school gave them a day to celebrate their school, their community, and each other and Miami is proud to be a part of it.” Every South Cameron High School student received a gift. The Cameron Lions Club served as the fiscal agent for the donation.
