Written comments will be received until 10 a.m. on Monday, June 7, 2021 at the Cameron Parish West Annex Office located at 148 Smith Circle, Cameron, LA 70631 or mailed to Cameron Parish Police Jury, P. O. Box 1280, Cameron, LA 70631, Attn: Mary Carroll. Oral comments will be received at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, June 11, 2021 in the Cameron Parish Police Jury Meeting Room during the regular Cameron Parish Police Jury Meeting. Comments are based on the proposed changes to the Cameron Parish Fire Protection Ordinance listed below:

Fire Protections
DELETE the entirety of the following:

Including:

• Sec. 20-5. – Authority; duties.

Including:
• Sec. 20-25. – Created; boundaries.
• Sec. 20-26. – Name; domicile.
• Sec. 20-27. – Commissioners.
– DIVISION 4: Cameron District No. 9
Including:
• Sec. 20-32. – Created; boundaries.
• Sec. 20-33. – Name; domicile.

REPLACE the above-deleted sections with the following:
– DIVISION 1: Consolidated Fire Protections of South Cameron;
There is hereby created, “Consolidated Fire Protections of South Cameron,” in Cameron Parish, Louisiana and as so created shall constitute fire protection district.
Sec. 20-1. – Created; boundaries.
• Consolidated Fire District No. 1, of the Parish of Cameron Louisiana shall consist of the area and boundaries previously known as Cameron Fire No. 1, Creole Fire No. 7, and Grand Chenier Fire No. 9 and shall be composed of the following territory wholly within Cameron Parish, Louisiana, to wit:
• Beginning at a point which is the intersection of the east line of Township 15 South, Range 9 West, with the shoreline of the Gulf of Mexico; thence north along the east lines of the said Township 15 South, Range 9 West, and Townships 14 and 13 South, Range 9 West to the intersection of said line with the north boundary line of Ward 3, which is the center section line of Section 13, Township 13 South, Range 9 West at that point, thence west along the center section line of Section 13, Township 13 South, Range 9 West and a projection thereof to a point where said line intersects on the east or left descending bank of the Calcasieu Ship Channel, thence following the east or left descending bank of the Calcasieu Ship Channel to the shoreline of the Gulf of Mexico, thence easterly along the shoreline of the Gulf of Mexico, to the point of beginning;
• Beginning at the northeast corner of west one-half of Section 3, Township 13 South, Range 7 West, Cameron Parish, Louisiana; thence west to the northwest corner of Section 6, Township 13 South, Range 7 West; thence south to the northeast corner of Section 24, Township 13 South, Range 8 West; thence west to the northwest corner of Section 19, Township 13 South, Range 8 West; thence south to the southwest corner of Section 31, Township 13 South, Range 8 West; thence west to the northwest corner of Section 6, Township 14 South, Range 8 West; thence south to the southwest corner of Section 6, Township 15 South, Range 8 West; thence due south to the southern boundary line of Cameron Parish, Louisiana (State of Louisiana southern boundary line); thence easterly along the southern boundary line of Cameron Parish, Louisiana (State of Louisiana southern boundary line) to a point due south of the southeast corner of irregular Section 7, Township 15 South, Range 7 West; thence due north to the southeast corner of irregular Section 7, Township 15 South, Range 7 West; thence northerly along the east line of irregular Section 7 and Section 6, Township 15 South, Range 7 West, to the southwest corner of Section 29, Township 14 South, Range 7 West; thence easterly along the south line of Sections 29, 28 and 27, Township 14 South, Range 7 West, to the southeast corner of the west one-half of Section 27, Township 14 South, Range 7 West; thence northerly along the centerline of Sections 27, 22, 15, 10 and 3, Township 14 South, Range 7 West, to the northeast corner of west one-half of Section 3, Township 14 South, Range 7 West; thence easterly to the southeast corner of west one-half of Section 34, Township 13 South, Range 7 West; thence northerly along center line of Sections 34, 27, 22, 15, 10 and 3, Township 13 South, Range 7 West to the point of beginning all in Cameron Parish, Louisiana;
• Beginning at the northwest corner of Section 2, Township 13 South, Range 5 West; thence west to the center of the north line of Section 3, Township 13 South, Range 7 West; thence from the center of the north line of Section 3, Township 13 South, Range 7 West, south on the half section lines to the center of the south line of Section 27, Township 14 South, Range 7 West; thence west to the northeast corner of Section 32, Township 14 South, Range 7 West; thence south to the Gulf of Mexico; thence easterly along the Gulf of Mexico to the east line of Cameron Parish; thence in a northerly direction along the east line of Cameron Parish to its intersection with the south bank of the Intracoastal Waterway; thence along the south boundary of the said Intracoastal Waterway in a westerly direction to the intersection of the south bank of the Intracoastal Waterway with the north boundary of Section 6, Township 13 South, Range 3 West; thence due west to the point of beginning.
Sec. 20-2. – Governing Body.
• There being no incorporated municipalities within the boundaries of such district, the Cameron Parish Police Jury does hereby create a board of commissioners to serve as the governing body of the Consolidated Fire Protections District of South Cameron. The board of commissioners shall consist of five (5) members to be appointed by the Cameron Parish Police Jury as provided by R.S. 40:1496.
Sec. 20-4. – Corporate Seal.
• The corporate seal of the parish police jury shall be the corporate seal of the Consolidated Fire Protections District of South Cameron and the official journal of Cameron Parish, Louisiana, shall be the official journal of Consolidated Fire Protections District of South Cameron.
Sec. 20-5. – Authority; duties.
• The Consolidated Fire Protections District of South Cameron shall have all authorities and duties as provided by R.S. 40:1491 through 1501 and as well as those provided by the Constitution and other laws of the state, and also all such powers and duties as may be designated to such district generally by the state.
