COMMISSIONERS
The Board of Commissioners of Lower Cameron Hospital Service District met in a Regular Session on Tuesday, February 27, 2024, at 4:00 p.m., at the Cameron Parish District Attorney’s office, in Cameron, Louisiana. Members present were Chairman Stephanie Rodrigue, Vice-Chairman Mary Canik, Tredale Boudreaux, Vickie Kiffe, Shawn Bonsall, and Sheila Miller. Guests were Cameron Parish District Attorney Tom Barrett, Dan Hoffpauir, Joshua Hoffpauir, Joseph Duhon, and Kevin Dupke.
The meeting was called to order by Stephanie Rodrigue, Chairman. A quorum was determined.
Upon motion by Shawn Bonsall, seconded by Vickie Kiffe, the agenda was unanimously approved.
There were no public comments.
Upon motion by Mary Canik, seconded by Sheila Miller, the Minutes of the January 30, 2024, Regular Meeting were unanimously approved.
Upon motion by Shawn Bonsall, seconded by Tredale Boudreaux, the Board of Commissioners unanimously approved moving forward with architectural designs for elevation and renovation of former physicians’ residence to serve as a location of temporary primary health care services. The board also received an update on design of the new South Cameron Memorial Hospital and demo of existing destroyed structures, noting that bids for demo work may commence once the design is complete, only if there is no further need for site visits for insurance litigation purposes.
By form of Roll Call, the Board of Commissioners unanimously approved to enter into Executive Session to discuss Litigation between Stonebridge Health Systems, LLC vs. Lower Cameron Hospital Service District and Lower Cameron Hospital Service District and Stonebridge Health Systems LLC d/b/a South Cameron Memorial Hospital vs. Independent Specialty Insurance Company and Interstate Fire & Casualty Company.
Upon motion by Shawn Bonsall, seconded by Sheila Miller, the Board of Commissioners unanimously approved to return to Regular Session.
Upon motion by Sheila Miller, seconded by Mary Canik, the Board of Commissioners received from Venture Global Energy, Hazardous Waste Generator Emergency Response Arrangements Submittal of Hazardous Waste Contingency Plan and Quick Reference Guide.
Upon motion by Shawn Bonsall, and seconded by Tredale Boudreaux, the Board of Commissioners unanimously authorized the termination of the Cooperative Endeavor Agreement between the Cameron Parish Police Jury and the Lower Cameron Hospital Service District to provide temporary primary health care at the former Cameron Parish Health Unit.
Upon motion by Sheila Miller, seconded by Vickie Kiffe, the financial reports were unanimously approved by the Board of Commissioners.
Upon motion by Tredale Boudreaux, seconded by Sheila Miller, the Board of Commissioners unanimously approved the renewal of Julie Trahan’s Bookkeeping Services Agreement for the 2024 calendar year.
The Board of Commissioners received an update from Joey L. Breaux, CPA, Lester, Miller & Wells, on the completion of audits from 2021 and 2022 that were not previously filed. Mr. Breaux’s correspondence stated, “The 2021 audit is in the final stages of completion and should have a draft copy of the financial and AUP report in the next few days.” And “With regards to the 2022 audit, we are starting on that audit right away and plan to complete it by mid-April 2024”.
Upon motion by Shawn Bonsall, seconded by Tredale Boudreaux, the Board of Commissioners unanimously requested Joseph Duhon, Vice-President and Relationships Manager, B1 Bank, to provide interest-bearing investment options at the March 26, 2024, meeting.
Upon motion by Vickie Kiffe, seconded by Sheila Miller, payment of reviewed bills was unanimously approved by the Board of Commissioners.
It was noted that the next regular meeting was previously scheduled for Tuesday, March 26, at 4:00 p.m. at the Cameron Parish District Attorney’s Office, in Cameron, Louisiana. There was no further business, and the meeting was adjourned.
