MINUTES
The Cameron Parish Beachfront Development District #1 Commission convened for its regular session on Monday, January 12, 2026, at the Johnson Bayou Community Center. The meeting was called to order at 5:02 p.m. by Chairman Michele Long, who led the Pledge of Allegiance and a prayer.
COMMISSIONERS PRESENT: Chairman Michele Long; Commissioner/Secretary Cindy Snead; Commissioner B.J. Miller; Commissioner Debbie Fontenot
ABSENT: Vice Chairman Russell Badon
GUESTS: Rodney Istra, Kite Weekend – Holly Beach Organizer
APPROVAL OF MINUTES: A motion to approve the minutes of the October 13, 2025 meeting as presented was made by B.J. Miller, seconded by Debbie Fontenot, and unanimously carried by the board.
PUBLIC COMMENT: None
CORRESPONDENCE: None
FINANCIAL REPORT: A motion to approve the October, November 2025 financial reports for both the Beachfront Development District #1 and the Marshland-2026 Love the Boot-Cameron Parish Beach Cleanup as presented was made by Cindy Snead, seconded by B.J. Miller, and unanimously carried by the board.
OLD BUSINESS:
Ratify Recurring Charges: A motion to approve the recurring charges for the Cameron Pilot and Superior Storage was made by Debbie Fontenot, seconded by Cindy Snead, and unanimously carried by the board.
Holly Beach Update: Grass Ordinance and Drainage Board issues were discussed.
Safety Rescue Tubes & Signage: A workday will be planned in the future to design, build, and install 10 safety flotation devices on area beaches.
Cameron Ferry Boat Launch Renovation Project: Funding has been secured for the parking lot crushed concrete, security lighting, signage, and grass maintenance. The project will move forward in the upcoming weeks to be ready to receive the new ferry this spring. Seth Woods (DOTD) has indicated that DOTD plans to build a new loading apron at the site of the current boat launch, along with the existing loading aprons, to serve both the new alternate ferry and the older ferry. He was asked to identify an alternate boat launch in the area to accommodate fishermen who use this section of the Gulf of America.
Creole Nature Trail Restroom Facility at Holly Beach: Per Kara Bonsall, Cameron Parish Police Jury, the parish is still working on final site prep logistics, and the board should check back in two weeks.

·Holly Beach Kite Festival – June 19, 20, 21, 2026. Organized by Rodney Istra. Also, live music on the beach featuring Damon Troy and Dustin Ray.
Cameron Parish Beach Sweep: A motion to authorize Michele Long to plan and purchase items for the 2026 Love the Boot Beach Cleanup on April 25, 2026, with reimbursement was made by Cindy Snead, seconded by B.J. Miller, and unanimously approved by the board. The following organizations are invited to have tables at the event in Johnson Bayou: Audubon-Mammal, NOAA-Turtle, International Crane Foundation, U.S. Wildlife & Fisheries, CRCL, and Audubon Delta Mississippi.
ANNOUNCEMENTS:
Ethics Training and Prevention of Sexual Harassment Training are due by December 31, 2026.

There being no further business, on the motion of B.J. Miller, seconded by Cindy Snead, and unanimously carried by the board, the meeting was adjourned at 5:45 p.m.
