Board of Commissioners Meeting
May 29, 2024
Meeting called to order at 4:00 p.m. by Chairperson, Mary D. Booth.
Pledge of Allegiance and Prayer were led by Mrs. Booth.
Board Roll call: Present – Mary Booth, Kevin Vincent, Logan Manuel. Absent – Jo Ann Nunez, Melissa Kiffe.
Mrs. Booth read the agenda aloud. An amendment to the agenda, to add radio purchases, was requested by Mr. Broussard and a motion to approve the addition was made by Mr. Vincent. Seconded by Mr. Manuel. None opposed. Motion carried.
Mr. Manuel motioned to approve the minutes from the last meeting, February 21, 2024. Second by Mr. Vincent. None opposed. Motion carried.
Director, Byron Broussard presented the director’s report for February, March & December 2024. which included, call volume reports, payments received on accounts, expense reports, cash asset report, and tax revenues received. Expense reports were reviewed and signed by each present member. An account adjustment report was presented and signed by the meeting chairperson. A balance sheet was presented and reviewed. A dividend check from La. Worker’s Compensation Corp. in the amount of $37,350.41was also presented to the board.
Mr. Vincent motioned to accept the director’s report. Second by Mr. Manuel. None opposed. Motion carried.
Ad valorem tax millages were discussed. The following resolution was read and voted on as follows:
BE IT RESOLVED, that the following millage is hereby levied on the 2024 tax roll on the property subject to taxation by the LOWER CAMERON PARISH AMBULANCE SERVICE DISTRICT.

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the proper administrative officials of the Parish of Cameron, State of Louisiana, be and they are hereby empowered, authorized and directed to spread said taxes, as hereinabove set forth, upon the assessment roll of said Parish for the year 2024, and to make the collection of the taxes imposed for and on behalf of the taxing authority, according to law, and that the taxes herein levied shall become a permanent lien and privilege on all property subject to taxation as herein set forth, and the collection thereof shall be enforceable in the manner provided by law.
The foregoing resolution was read in full, the roll was called on the adoption thereof, and the resolution was adopted by the following votes:

NAYS: 0
ABSTAINED: 0
ABSENT: Jo Ann Nunez, Melissa Kiffe
At the request of police juryman, Mark Daigle, the board discussed the possibility of the two Cameron Parish ambulance districts consolidating. A list of questions and concerns was comprised. No further action was taken on this topic.
Mr. Broussard presented a quote for the purchase of new radios to upgrade the existing ones. The quote is for four complete hand-held radios and accessories for a total $15,781.48. Mr. Manuel motioned to approve the purchase of the four hand-held radios and to seek information on replacing the mobile, unit mounted radios or “convertacoms” as they may become available. Second by Mr. Vincent. None opposed. Motion carried.
Mr . Manuel motioned to adjourn the meeting. Second by Mr. Vincent. None opposed. Motion carried. Meeting adjourned.
