MINUTES
The Cameron Parish Beachfront Development District #1 Commission met in regular session on Monday, September 12, 2022, at the Johnson Bayou Community Center. The meeting was called to order at 6:00 p.m. by Chairman Richard Burbank, who led the pledge and prayer.
Commissioners present were Chairman Richard Burbank, Vice Chairman Russell Badon, Michele Long, Tammy Erbelding, and Secretary Cindy Snead. Absent was Niki Norman.
On the motion of Michele Long, seconded by Russell Badon, and carried, the minutes for the August 8, 2022 meeting were approved as presented.
Guests present were Amy Miller with the Cheniere Foundation and Police Juror Sonny McGee.
Old Business:
Michele Long reported on the August 26, 2022, Holly Beach sub-committee meeting items:
•Lease of public land in Holly Beach for future projects
•Addition of an events page on social media to inform the community of sub-committee meetings
•Suggestions of projects for the donation from the Holly Beach Sewer Board
•Beach sweeper repairs
•Sanctioning the streets of Holly Beach for legal side by side and golf carts driving
•Enforcement of parish grass ordinance
Michele Long updated the board on the Little Florida/Beach Blvd. Protection Project. Soil for dunes has been added and walkovers are complete. Hydroseeding is planned for this week. Dick Burbank will ask the Fire Department for their help in watering the hydroseeding. Ribbon cutting date September 29th at 10:00 a.m.
Craig Broussard reported on leasing of state beach land from the Calcasieu River to the Causeway Bridge. A formal letter will be sent to the parish administrator asking for assistance in moving the project forward.
No news to report on the Creole Nature Trail grant.
On the motion of Tammy Erbelding, seconded by Russell Badon, and carried, the Cameron Parish Beachfront Development District #1 Board By-Laws & Standing Rules were accepted.

New Business:
Cameron Parish Beach Sweep Districts #1, #2 is set for September 17, 2022 at 8:30 a.m. Food will be served at 11:30 a.m. at the Community Center. Russell Badon suggested making a work order for clearing the roadway at Mae’s Beach for Cameron Beach Sweep. A work order will be submitted to the Roads and Bridges Department.
Michele Long discussed the possible creation of a Cameron Parish Beach Sweep 501(3)c. The item was tabled until further review.
Craig Broussard updated the board as to August’s financial spreadsheet and its expenditures, donations, and account information.
Open Session:
Craig Broussard reported about the successful bird nesting season on the beach west of Holly Beach per Katie Barnes with Audubon Society.
Russell Badon discussed receiving donated barricades from the state to protect Long Beach Road. He will contact the parish engineer to see if the project can move forward.
Sonny McGee suggested the board write a letter of support to Representative Ryan Bourriaque for additional breakwaters along the coastline to add more shoreline protection for Cameron Parish.

The next meeting will be October 10, 2022.
There being no further business, on the motion of Michele Long, seconded by Russell Badon, and carried, the meeting was adjourned at 7:04 p.m.
