PROCEEDINGS
September 26, 2024
There was a regular meeting of Gravity Drainage District No. 8 at 6:00 p.m., Thursday, November 21, 2024, at the Grand Lake Waterworks Office.
PRESENT: Terry Smith, James Cox, Monty Pearce, Tommy Arceneaux
ABSENT: Jake McCain
GUESTS: Andrew Gary
Andrew Gary requested the board to provide comments on a proposed parking lot and lay down yard just north of Chesson’s that he is working on for Venture Global. He told the board that there will be a retention pond to drain most of the property and drainage to existing lateral 23 will be limited to pre-construction amounts. The board did not share any drainage concerns with the proposed project.
On motion of James Cox, second by Tommy Arceneaux and carried, the minutes of the September 26, 2024, meeting are approved.
On motion of Tommy Arceneaux, second by James Cox and carried, the October 2024 Finance Report was accepted by the board as presented by the Secretary.
On motion of Terry Smith, second by Tommy Arceneaux and carried, the board directed the Secretary to submit a work order request to the public works department to perform the following work:
Clean lateral 23
Clean lateral 24 and replace 3 collapsed culverts
Clean lateral D between PR 487 and PR 488
Clean lateral 4
On a motion of James Cox, seconded by Tommy Arceneaux and carried, the board approved the following permits:
a. LCUP # 241104– BP – remediate environmental conditions on Geer property
b. LCUP # PENDING – Andrew Gary/VG CP2 – laydown yard and parking lot north of Chessons
c. LCUP # 241202 – Mark Cullen – levees and road for cattle grazing
On motion of Tommy Arceneaux, second by Terry Smith and carried, the meeting was adjourned.
