Many attended September Police Jury meeting

Cameron Parish Police Jury held their public meeting – voting session – on Tuesday, Sept. 2, at the conclusion of the morning agenda meeting in the Cameron Parish Police Jury West Annex – Board Room, 148 Smith Circle, Cameron.

Jurors in attendance were: President Ronald Nunez, Jr., Dist. 6; Sonny McGee, Dist. 1; Mark Daigle, Dist. 5; Sam Bordelon, Dist. 3; Johnny Watson, Dist. 4; and Ron Johnson, Interim Juror for Dist. 4.

After President Ronald Nunez, Jr. called the meeting to order, the Pledge of Allegiance/Prayer were conducted. Motion carried that was made by Ron Johnson and seconded by Sam Bordelon to adopt August 2025 meeting minutes. Motions carried, by Sonny McGee and seconded by Mark Daigle to approve add-ons as well as remove items from other permits

Motion carried to approve other permits was made by Sonny McGee and seconded by Mark Daigle, they were the following:

Targa Resources, LLC – Off Highway 82, Johnson Bayou, (proposes to excavate approx. 1,297 cy of earthen material at an existing facility and haul it off site to be disposed of per the LDEC RECAP Site Closure Plan. Approx. 1,297 cy of clean fill will be used as backfill to return the site to its pre-existing grade and contours.), Cameron Parish. (250901)

University of Louisiana – Sabine Lake, Latitude 29°47’3”, Longitude 93°54’54.8”, Johnson Bayou, (proposes as part of the LO-SPAT project, a monitoring buoy be deployed in Sabine Lake for continuous water quality monitoring to inform conditions for oyster reef health and recruitment. The buoy, 77 inches in length and 30 inches in width, will power (solar) and contains a YSI EX03 sonde to gather data at a higher frequency than traditional boat sampling.), Cameron Parish. (250902)

Transcontinental Gas Pipe Line Company, LLC – Youngs Road, Johnson Bayou, (proposes installation of a multicyclone filter unit line and bypass to handle liquids and debris to clean a sump within the compressor station. Approx. 474cy of material will be excavated and hauled off site and 474cy of concrete will be brought in.), Cameron Parish. (250903)

Cameron Parish Port, Harbor & Terminal District – Cameron, Latitude 29° 50’ 16.30” N, Longitude 93°19’11.90” W, (EUA 25-031, dredged material being beneficially used for marsh creation within the Cameron Prairie National Wildlife Refuge (CPNWR) has accidently been placed beyond the refuge boundary and into adjoining property to the west. Some material has accumulated in a section of the Lake Rim Channel and part of CPRA’s No Name Bayou Project area. Approx. 9,000 to 18,000 cubic yards of material has been displaced and will be retrieved with a small hydraulic dredger to the best extent practicable and returned to the permitted area within CPNWR’s footprint.), Cameron Parish. Byron K. Olivier – Klondike, 316 Louisiana Avenue, (propose removing 315’ of existing wharf, bulkhead backfill, and excavation of pond (150’ x 330’) on south side of parish road to reclaim water frontage property.), Cameron Parish. (250810)

Cameron Land Ventures, LLC – Carter Road, Cameron, (proposes removal of existing storm damaged dock structure, old foundation pads and damaged structures currently located on a previous industrial project site measuring approx. 5.6 acres. All material will be hauled to state approved disposal facility. Shoreline stabilization improvements at the site will be achieved with placement of approx. 2,405 cy of rip-rap material behind proposed dock structure and approx. 297.4 linear feet of steel bulkhead for proposed boat launch. Approx. 2.46 acres will be filled with 3,277 cy of concrete for structure foundations, boat launch, roads, and 301 cy of gravel for parking. Approx. 3.01 acres will remain a permeable yard and supportive of vegetative growth. The purpose of this project is to construct multi-purpose waterside vessel engagement facilities with short term accommodations to support expansion and industry development.), Cameron Parish. Randy Broussard – 225 Alladin Road, Hackberry, (proposed permit renewal of excavation around existing pond to utilize fill material for 2 house pads as previously permitted under (P20200668). This will result in 25,926 cubic yards of excavated material.), Cameron Parish. (200803)

Cameron Parish Police Jury – 279 Davis Road, Cameron, (proposed upgrades at the existing Redman Pump Station and an associated outfall channel. Upgrades include removal of existing pump station infrastructure, installation of a new elevated pump station platform with three new pumps, construction of a 2.0 acre intake/drawdown basin, installation of new drainage pipes and culverts, modifications to the outfall channel profile, replacement of two outfall channel road crossings, elevation of the section of Davis Road in front of the pump station, and modification of the ditch system immediately adjacent to the pump station and Davis Road. Project is needed to increase the discharge capacity of the Redman Pump Station and improve drainage and reduce flooding in the area around Davis Road. The current pump capacity is insufficient to evacuate large volumes of water during and following intense weather events.), Cameron Parish. (250906)

La Bay CamOps, LLC – Cameron, 183 Bobbies Lane, (proposes construction of gravel pad intended for vehicle and equipment parking, as well as temporary staging of construction materials, including storage of cement powder and 610 road base. This will result in 7000 cubic yards of fill material within 7 acres.), Cameron Parish. (250707)

On Appointments Terms had expired for the following persons at Hackberry Fire Protection District No.

1: Robert Silver, Butch Little and Gerald Landry; motion carried for all three to be reappointed.

Motion carried, made by Ron Johnson and seconded by Sonny McGee, approving to accept Financial Statement Audit Report for year ending December 31, 2024.

Mark Daigle made a motion with Sonny McGee seconding Authority to sell surplus equipment:
