Madelyn Blaize Kleinpeter Gaspar died at her home in Alexandria, on Apr. 25, 2024, a month short of her 96th birthday. She was born in Baton Rouge.
Madelyn Gaspar is survived by her loving sister, Patricia Kleinpeter Odom of Baton Rouge and her daughters, Mary Reeves, Ann Wilson, Cathy Medica and Joan Haase, seven grandchildren, one great grandchild.
Madelyn was preceded in death by her husband, Loyd Joseph Gaspar; parents, Henry Eugene Kleinpeter Sr. and Clara Ellen Blaize Kleinpeter; brother, Henry Eugene Kleinpeter Jr. and twin sister, Marjorie.
She was a member of St. Rita’s Church for many years. Most in the community also remember her as a third-grade teacher at Mabel Brasher and W.O. Hall Elementary Schools for 25 years.
She graduated from St. Joseph’s Academy in Baton Rouge and she earned her university degrees at LSU in Baton Rouge and Louisiana College in Pineville.
The Gaspars moved to Alexandria in 1961.
Her passions were many, but she especially loved to spend time walking the beach, collecting shells and nautical treasures, gardening and hosting family at their summer camp on Rutherford Beach in Cameron Parish.
On Friday, May 3, a Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 a.m. at St. Rita Catholic Church in Alexandria. Visitation will be held from 9 a.m. until shortly before time of services in the church. Interment will follow in Alexandria Memorial Gardens.
Services are under the direction of Hixson Brothers Funeral Home of Alexandria.
