MINUTES
The Cameron Parish Tourist Commission held its Regular Session on Thursday, January 15, 2026, at the Cameron Parish Police Jury Conference Room in Cameron, Louisiana. The meeting was called to order at 4:00 p.m. by Chairperson Carolyn Miller, who led the Pledge of Allegiance followed by the opening prayer.
COMMISSIONERS PRESENT: Carolyn Miller, Chairman; Vicki Little, Vice Chairman; Michele Long, Secretary/Treasurer; Geralyn Myers; Susan Boudreaux; Mary Johnson
ABSENT: Joe Ann Labove

PUBLIC COMMENT: None
APPROVAL OF MINUTES: Pending draft minutes of the previous meeting were distributed to all board members via email prior to the meeting. A motion to approve the December 17, 2025 minutes as presented was made by Susan Boudreaux, seconded by Vicki Little, and passed unanimously. The approved minutes will be published in the Cameron Pilot, the official paper of record.
CORRESPONDENCE: Invitation to Police Jury Association of Louisiana Annual Convention Exhibit Showcase March 4-5, 2026 at Golden Nugget, Lake Charles, LA.
TREASURER’S REPORT: A motion to approve the December 2025 financial report and 2026 proposed budget as presented was made by Geralyn Myers, seconded by Mary Johnson, and passed unanimously.
REVIEW AND PAYMENT OF BILLS: A motion to approve payment of the LACVB dues ($211.75) was made by Vicki Little, seconded by Susan Boudreaux, all in favor, motion carried.
OLD BUSINESS:
Ratify Recurring Charges: A motion to approve the recurring charges for the Cameron Pilot & Google Workspace was made by Susan Boudreaux, seconded by Michele Long, and passed unanimously.
Calendar of Events:
The board will continue exploring and promoting events to showcase Cameron Parish.

The board announced that Charlee Bell, the 2026 Miss Cameron, will be invited to attend an upcoming board meeting to meet with members and discuss her role for the year.
Website & Social Media: The 2025 website site visits were up $277% from over 2024. The commission’s social media/Facebook page hosted a photo contest based on hunting and fishing throughout the month of December. Winners will receive tourist commission gift bags as well as gift certificates to local restaurants.
Family Fishing Festival: Members discussed information regarding a potential Family Fishing Festival traditionally held in the spring at Cameron Prairie National Wildlife Refuge. The Cameron Parish Tourist Commission will reach out to refuge staff to inquire about plans for the event and to offer assistance should it move forward, with the goal of supporting it as a spring tourism attraction for Cameron Parish.
NEW BUSINESS:
The Board will maintain its focus on the five strategic goals identified in the 2026–2030 Cameron Parish Tourism Strategic Plan. Commissioners are requested to designate a specific objective and corresponding implementation measures for which they will assume a leadership role in 2026.
Brochure: A motion to retain Graham Group to update the tourist commission brochure was made by Vicki Little, seconded by Susan Boudreaux, all in favor, motion carried.
Enterprise Funds: The board is awaiting outreach from Melinda Frith, Representative Ryan Bourriaque’s administrative assistant, as the session date approaches.
Occupancy Tax Ordinance– approved by the Police Jury for publication in the official parish newspaper of record.
UPDATES:
Beachfront Development District # 1 – 2026 Ferry Landing West Improvement Project funding has been secured for parking lot regrading, shoreline erosion protection with rock and backfill, upgraded lighting, and new signage.
ANNOUNCEMENTS:
Annual Personal Financial Disclosure: Due May 15, 2026.
Ethics and Prevention of Sexual Harassment Trainings: Due December 31, 2026.
NEXT MEETING: A motion to reschedule the next meeting to Thursday, February 12, 2026, at 4:00 p.m. in the Police Jury Conference Room was made by Michele Long, seconded by Mary Johnson, and passed unanimously.
ADJOURNMENT: A motion to adjourn at 5:56 p.m. was made by Michele Long, seconded by Susan Boudreaux, and passed unanimously.
