Love The Boot celebrate’s our 250th birthday

Love The Boot Week 2026 Registration opens celebrating America’s 250th Birthday.

More than 25,000 volunteers will clean up litter and beautify all 64 parishes Apr. 18-26.

Keep Louisiana Beautiful (KLB) and Lieutenant Governor Billy Nungesser announced that online registration is now open at LoveTheBoot.org for the 5th annual Love the Boot Week, Louisiana’s largest statewide litter removal and beautification effort. The event will take place Apr. 18–26, and will celebrate America’s 250th birthday. Louisianans across the state are encouraged to show their pride in their communities – and their country – by participating in a local cleanup or beautification effort during Love the Boot Week.

The first 800 groups registering their litter cleanup or beautification event will receive a supply box with volunteer t-shirts, gloves, and trash bags.

“Louisiana is a state we’re proud to call home, and taking care of it is a responsibility we all share,” said Lieutenant Governor Billy Nungesser. “Love the Boot Week gives every Louisianan a chance to make a visible difference in their own backyard. I challenge people in every parish to sign up, pitch in, and help pick up at least 250 pieces of litter as a tribute to our nation and a commitment to the future of our state.”

“Love the Boot Week has grown into an incredible movement with the help of Louisiana’s caring citizens, and we need to keep the momentum going as we go into our 5th year,” said Susan Russell, KLB Executive Director. “As we approach America’s 250th birthday, let’s all show our love for Louisiana and demonstrate what we are capable of when we all work together toward a common goal.”

The people of Louisiana can participate in Love the Boot Week in the following ways:

During Love the Boot Week 2025, 26,935 volunteers contributed 81,852 hours across 1,408 events in all 64 parishes, resulting in the removal of 514 tons of litter. Volunteers also diverted 16,503 aluminum cans and plastic bottles from landfills through recycling efforts. In addition to litter removal, participants planted 1,204 trees and 3,672 plants and refurbished 477 community gardens. Organizers anticipate an even greater impact in 2026.
