The Hackberry Fire Protection District 1 Board met for a regular session at the Hackberry Fire Station located at 1025 Main Street on Monday June 30, 2025, at 6:00 p.m. Board members present by roll call were Mr. Thad Little, Mr. Colton Sanner, Mr. Lawrence Little, Mr. Robert Silver, and Mr. Gerald Landry. Also present, district members Chief Clint Welch, Mr. Brad Lester, employee Mrs. Sydney Bird, and Police Juror Mr. Michael Fewell.
The meeting was called to order by Mr. Thad Little. The Pledge and Prayer was led by Thad Little followed by taking roll. On motion from Lawrence, seconded by Robert and carried unanimously, the minutes from May 19, 2025, were dismissed.
Monthly financial reports were given for the month of May. On Motion from Gerald, seconded by Robert and carried unanimously to table the following purchase requisitions: 1. Striping the parking lot, 2. Tinting the bay doors.
Under old business, Chief Welch reviewed: 1. Generator update. 2. Pick up and disposal of foam containing PFAS. 3. Updates on Engine 1 and the Brush Truck repairs. On motion from Gerald, seconded by Colton and carried unanimously, to repair line items 9, 10, and 16 on the ladder truck quote. 4. The clearing of the land behind the fire station. 5. The Automatic Aid Agreement for structural fires. 6. An updated PIAL score advertisement will be advertised in the newspaper once it is in effect. 7. Hydrant repair 8. Hackberry’s Ladder 1 for Klondike. 9. Standard Operation Procedures are being revised. 10. Hurricane preparation plan for 2025. 11. Inactive members were reviewed. 12. On motion by Gerald seconded by Robert and carried unanimously, to upgrade the current APX6000 radios to WIFI to make it capable to work inside Hackberry High School.
Under new business the following was discussed: 1. Bid opening date for new pumper apparatus set for July 28, 2025, 6:00 p.m. 2. Station duty 3. Items for community outreach will be purchased. 4. Chief Clint discussed fire department activities: The response run report along with department training.
There being no further business, on the motion of Gerald, seconded by Robert and carried unanimously, the meeting was declared adjourned.
