Cameron Parish School Board met on Monday Dec. 1, at 5:15 p.m. at 510 Marshall St., for their regularly scheduled monthly meeting.
The following school board members were in attendance: Marsha Trahan, Dist. 1; Christie LaBove, Dist. 2; Mitchel Kelley, Dist. 4; Vickie Kiffe, Dist. 5; Sharon Picou, Dist. 6 and Joseph Delcambre, Dist. 7.
School board members who were absent were: Randall Faulk, Dist. 8; Telesha Bertrand, Dist. 3; and Christi LaBove, Dist. 2.
After the meeting was called to order by Vickie Kiffe the Prayer and Pledge were said.
Members moved to approve the agenda and the board minutes of the Nov. 10, 2025 regular meeting of the Cameron Parish School Board.
Motion carried to approve authorization of payment of bills as presented by Kathy Hayes.
Motion carried to adopt a resolution approving sale of property at 510 Marshall St., Cameron.
Motion carried for approval of revision to policies in accordance with ACT 479 as presented Louisiana Legislative Session 2025 Update Part II – Superintendent

An Early Learning Center for Johnson Bayou High School which would be a combination of 3 year old and 4 year old students has been approved by the state. Motion carried to name the Early Learning Center, Joni Smith Early Learning Center after the late Johnson Bayou Principal who advocated for its creation.
Motion carried to approve the 2026 Cameron Parish School Board meeting schedule as follows:
Jan. 12, Feb. 9, Mar. 9, Apr. 20 *, May 11, June 8, July 13, Aug. 10, Sept. 14, Oct. 12, Nov. 9, Dec. 14.
After receiving information from a panel of Grand Lake teachers who were in attendance motion carried to take the necessary action regarding relocating Grand Lake 6th grade from the elementary section to the high school.
