The 2025 Grand Lake Hornets started fall practice last week in preparation for the upcoming season.

The Hornets had an excellent season last year going 7-4 and making the second round of the playoffs.

This season the Hornets return a quite a few familiar faces on both sides of the ball including running back Charles McFarland, and slot back/corner Kelan Vazquez as well as many other offensive and defensive weapons.

The Hornets return nine Seniors on this year’s team. All nine of them are very talented at their respective positions and the underclassmen men are very talented as well.

The Hornets will scrimmage the Vinton Lions on Thursday Aug. 21, at 5:30 p.m. in Vinton. The following week they will play against the Lake Arthur Tigers in the Welsh jamboree on Friday Aug. 29, at 5:30 p.m.

The Hornets will open the regular season at home Thursday Sept. 4, at 7 p.m. as they’ll welcome in the East Beauregard Trojans into the Hornets Nest!
