Hornets fall to Basile in defensive battle 7-0

By Jake McCoy

It was certainly a weird night of football across the southwest Louisiana area last Friday. It certainly was no different for the Grand Lake Hornets as they’re offense uncharacteristically could not put points on the board, which was a huge shock to everyone in southwest Louisiana. The Hornets offense averaged 37 points a game coming into the matchup with Basile. However, the Bearcats’ defense contained and kept the Hornets off of the scoreboard. The last time the Hornets were shut out was back during the 2021 class 1A Quarterfinals win Haynesville traveled to the Hornets’ Nest and escaped with a 17-0 victory over the Hornets.
