Hackberry Food Pantry to open soon

One in six people face hunger daily, and one in four children struggle with food insecurity at home.

Thirteen percent of seniors over 60 face difficulties accessing food. When households, especially those with children, lack food security, it limits their potential. In the long term, hunger hinders local economic growth, productivity and increases healthcare costs. Many families live paycheck to paycheck, forced to make impossible choices.

Rural communities such as Hackberry and Johnson Bayou have no immediate access to food banks and Care Help has witnessed these struggles in West Cameron Parish. With Sempra Infrastructure’s partnership, we’re turning our vision into a reality, by creating a future where everyone has access to nutritious food and basic needs. Hunger affects the well-being of our communities, but together, we are creating positive change.

Hackberry Food Pantry located in the Hackberry Community Center will have its soft opening Thursday, Sept. 25, from 9 a.m.- 12 noon. Please call 337-528-2273 for more information or visit on the 25th in Hackberry. To learn more go to: Care-help.org
