MINUTES
The Cameron Parish Beachfront Development District #1 Commission convened for its regular session on Monday, October 13, 2025, at the Johnson Bayou Community Center. The meeting was called to order at 5:01 p.m. by Chairman Michele Long, who led the Pledge of Allegiance and a prayer.
COMMISSIONERS PRESENT: Chairman Michele Long; Commissioner/Secretary Cindy Snead; Commissioner B.J. Miller; Commissioner Debbie Fontenot

Memorial Acknowledgment: The Board pauses to honor the life of Tammy Erbelding, whose recent passing is a great loss to Cameron Parish and the Johnson Bayou Community. Tammy was deeply dedicated to the work of the Cameron Parish Beachfront Development District #1 and served with strong attention to detail, steady commitment, and a remarkable knowledge of the Cameron Parish community and its history. Her contributions enriched both the district and the community who loved her. Her presence will be greatly missed.

APPROVAL OF MINUTES: A motion to approve the minutes of the September 8, 2025 meeting as presented was made by Debbie Fontenot, seconded by B.J. Miller, and unanimously carried by the board.

CORRESPONDENCE: None
FINANCIAL REPORT: A motion to approve the September 2025 financial reports for both the Beachfront Development District #1 and the Marshland-2025 ICC-Cameron Parish Beach Sweep as presented was made by Cindy Snead, seconded by Debbie Fontenot, and unanimously carried by the board.
OLD BUSINESS:
Ratify Recurring Charges: A motion to approve the recurring charges for the Cameron Pilot and Superior Storage was made by Cindy Snead, seconded by Debbie Fontenot, and unanimously carried by the board.
Holly Beach Update: A motion to approve the purchase of two American flags and two Louisiana state flags to be displayed on the Holly Beach flag poles was made by Cindy Snead, seconded by B.J. Miller, and unanimously carried by the board. These flags are intended to enhance the visibility and representation of both the nation and the state at the Holly Beach location.
Cameron Parish Beach Sweep: On September 18, 2025, fifty volunteers from Cameron LNG, Sempra Infrastructure, TotalEnergies, Mitsubishi, and Mitsue participated in a cleanup along Highway 82. On September 20, a total of 362 volunteers joined the effort. In District #1, 272 volunteers—including participants from Cheniere LNG, the Lamar University Energy Club, the McNeese University Energy Club, LSU Epsilon Eta Phi Chapters, local community members, and Girl Scout and Boy Scout troops from Texas and Louisiana—cleaned six beach locations. District #2 saw 90 volunteers working along Rutherford and Broussard Beaches. Altogether, 412 volunteers contributed to these successful events. A motion to officially close out the 2025 ICC Cameron Parish Beach Sweep Project was made by Debbie Fontenot, seconded by Cindy Snead, and unanimously carried by the board.
Safety Rescue Tubes & Signage: The board has requested formal guidance from the District Attorney regarding liability issues associated with the use of these safety measures on the beach and is await final approval.
Brochure: A motion to reorder 2000 West Cameron Beaches Brochures from Wise Ideas Printing & Promotions was made by Cindy Snead, seconded by B.J. Miller, and unanimously carried by the board.
NEW BUSINESS:
Cameron Ferry Boat Launch Renovation Project: A motion to authorize Michele Long to move forward with the Cameron Ferry Boat Launch Renovations Project was made by Cindy Snead, seconded by B.J. Miller, and unanimously carried by the board. This authorization includes reaching out to businesses, industries, and state agencies for potential funding opportunities, coordinating with stakeholders, and, once funding is secured, taking the necessary steps to advance the project as outlined in the proposal.
ANNOUNCEMENTS:
October 15, 2025 at 6:00 p.m. the Cameron Parish District Attorney will hold a public meeting to discuss Ad Valorem Taxes. Location: Ambulance District No. 2 Hackberry.
Ethics Training and Prevention of Sexual Harassment Training are due by December 31, 2025.
