MINUTES
The Cameron Parish Tourist Commission held its Regular Session on Thursday, October 16, 2025, at the Cameron Parish Police Jury Conference Room in Cameron, Louisiana. The meeting was called to order at 4:01 p.m. by Chairperson Carolyn Miller, who led the Pledge of Allegiance followed by the opening prayer.
COMMISSIONERS PRESENT: Carolyn Miller, Chairman; Michele Long, Secretary/Treasurer; Geralyn Myers; Susan Boudreaux; Mary Johnson
ABSENT: Vicki Little, Vice Chairman; Joe Ann Labove

PUBLIC COMMENT: None
APPROVAL OF MINUTES: Pending draft minutes of the previous meeting were distributed to all board members via email prior to the meeting. A motion to approve the September 11, 2025 minutes as presented was made by Geralyn Myers, seconded by Susan Boudreaux, and passed unanimously. The approved minutes will be published in the Cameron Pilot, the paper of record.
CORRESPONDENCE: West Cameron Beaches brochures were requested by the Acadia Parish Convention & Visitors Commission and Visit Lake Charles, and have been sent to both organizations. The Louisiana Office of Tourism requested birding brochures, which will be provided through Visit Lake Charles.
TREASURER’S REPORT: A motion to approve the September 2025 financial report as presented was made by Susan Boudreaux, seconded by Mary Johnson, and passed unanimously.
REVIEW AND PAYMENT OF BILLS: None
OLD BUSINESS:
Ratify Recurring Charges: A motion to approve the recurring charges for the Cameron Pilot & Google Workspace was made by Susan Boudreaux, seconded by Michele Long, and passed unanimously.

The board will continue exploring and promoting events to showcase Cameron Parish.

Social Media: The Board reviewed current analytics of the Commission’s social media presence along with the updated website. Commissioners were requested to thoroughly examine the website and submit any corrections or updates to ensure the accuracy and timelines of all posted information.
NEW BUSINESS:
The Board will maintain its focus on the five strategic goals identified in the 2026–2030 Cameron Parish Tourism Strategic Plan. Commissioners are requested to designate a specific objective and corresponding implementation measures for which they will assume a leadership role in 2026.
SWL Wildlife Refuge Visitors’ Center: Due to the government shutdown and the delay in receiving the MOU from the SWL Wildlife Refuge, the commission will postpone sponsoring field trips until further notice.

ANNOUNCEMENTS:
Ethics and Prevention of Sexual Harassment Trainings are required to be completed by December 31, 2025.
