According to Calcasieu Parish Sheriff Stitch Guillory, the Calcasieu Parish Regional Law Enforcement Training Academy completed its 134th Basic Academy by conducting graduation ceremonies Wednesday, Nov. 19, for 45 officers representing 14 agencies in the SWLA area. Forty-three officers completed over 500 hours of instruction in all phases of basic law enforcement. Two officers completed over 100 hours of refresher courses. These law enforcement officers passed the Louisiana Peace Officer Standard Testing exam and are now certified as Basic Peace Officers.
Brandon Washington, Calcasieu Parish Sheriff’s Office, was selected class president of the 134th Basic Academy.
Firearms awards were presented to: Brandon Feagin, first, Lake Charles Police Department, Alan Friday, second, Lake Charles Fire Department, Ronald Papillion, third, Calcasieu Parish Sheriff’s Office
The Academic Award was presented to Devyn Cook, Calcasieu Parish Sheriff’s Office. Defensive Tactics Honor was presented to Brevan Fields, Jeff Davis Parish Sheriff’s Office. Physical Training Award was presented to Gunner Johnson, Lake Charles Police Department.
Officers graduating are as follows: Tredale Boudreaux, Eric Duffy, Cameron Parish Sheriff’s Office.
The Calcasieu Parish Regional Law Enforcement Training Academy is located in Lake Charles and provides accredited training to law enforcement agencies in Allen, Beauregard, Calcasieu, Cameron, and Jeff Davis parishes.
