Grand Lake has first round bye

The Grand Lake Hornets have received a first round bye in the 2025 Division IV Non-Select playoffs.

The Hornets are the #9 seed and will play the winner of #10 Delcambre and #23 West St. John which will be at home sometime next week.

The Hornets are aiming to return to the state tournament for the first time since 2022 when they fell to Oak Grove 2-1 in the Class 1A State title game.

We want to wish the Hornets the best of luck on their quest back to Sulphur!

Geaux Hornets!

Hornets fall to Lacassine

On Saturday, Apr. 19, the Grand Lake Hornets hosted the Lacassine Cardinals in an exhibition game which does not count on either teams’ record. It’s just a glorified scrimmage to keep both teams loose on their respective first round bye week.

Neither the Hornets or Cardinals were able to score much as this game was scoreless until the bottom of the 5th inning when the Hornets got on the board. However Lacassine would plate two runs in the top of 6th and held Grand Lake after that. The Hornets would fall 2-1.

Law Faulk was 1-3, Zack Manuel was 2-3, Rylan Young was 1-3, Grayson Daigle was 1-3, and Colton Maynard was 1-2.

Lacassine 2, Grand Lake 1.
