Cameron Parish Recreation District 5 held its regularly scheduled meeting on August 15, 2024 at 7:00 p.m.
Board President Tremayne Picou called the meeting to order and on roll call the following members were present: Kris Howerton, and Jacob Babcock.
Absent: Thomas Cox and Kayla Conner
Employees in attendance were Lisa Ledano and Vickie Pickett
Guests present: none
A draft of the minutes of the previous meeting, July 18, 2024, was distributed to all board members via electronic mail prior to the meeting. Kris Howerton made a motion to accept the minutes as presented. Jacob Babcock seconded the motion. The motion carried unanimously. Public comment: none.
Old Business:
Public comment – time was allowed for public comment prior to voting on all agenda items
Hiring of office manager – Jacob Babcock made a motion to hire Heather Sample. Kris Howerton seconded the motion. The motion carried unanimously. Public comment: none.
New Business:

Consider calling an election to be held on March 29, 2025, to consider an in lieu of ad valorem property tax millage (9.30) mills for the purpose of operating and maintaining the District’s recreation facilities. Tremayne Picou read aloud the two public notices that were previously published in the Cameron Pilot. Kris Howerton made a motion to proceed with considering to call the election as stated. Jacob Babcock seconded the motion. The motion carried unanimously. Public comment: none.
The board members present reviewed the invoices for the month of July 2024. Jacob Babcock made a motion to approve the bills. Kris Howerton seconded the motion. The motion carried unanimously. Public comment: none.
The financial statement for the month of July 2024 was distributed to all board members via electronic mail prior to the meeting. Kris Howerton made a motion to accept the financial statement as presented. Jacob Babcock seconded the motion. The motion carried unanimously. Public comment: none.
With no further business to discuss, Jacob Babcock made a motion to adjourn the meeting. Kris Howerton seconded the motion. The motion carried unanimously. Public comment: none.
