The Cameron Parish Port Harbor & Terminal District met in regular session on Tuesday, April 30, 2024, at the Port Board Building, Cameron, Louisiana at 5:00 o’clock PM.
Present: Howard Romero, Tremayne Picou, Thomas Cox, Alfred Devall II, Joseph Devall Sr., Vince Theriot, Brent Morales, Nathan Griffith
Absent: Kevin Vincent, Sheila Miller, Dwight Savoie
Guests: Stuart Moss
Parish Agencies: Kim Montie, Port Director, Tianna Dunaway, Asst. Port Director
The meeting was called to order by Chairman Howard Romero.
Thomas Cox led the Pledge of Allegiance and Nathan Griffith gave the invocation.
There was no public comment.
The board discussed adding to the Agenda the Phase II Environmental Site Assessment-Follow-up with Southland Environmental and the CEA Agreement with Cameron Parish Police Jury and Lease with Henry, Henry Martin and The James Henry Company for the Fisheries Facility.
On the motion of Mr. Joseph Devall Sr. and seconded by Mr. Griffith and carried the board approved adding the Phase II Environmental Site Assessment-Follow-up with Southland Environmental to the agenda.
On the motion of Mr. Picou, seconded by Mr. Cox and carried the board approved adding the CEA Agreement with Cameron Parish Police Jury and Lease with Henry, Henry Martin and The James Henry Company for the Fisheries Facility to the agenda.
On the motion of Mr. Cox, seconded by Mr. Morales and carried the board approved the March 26, 2024 regular meeting minutes.
On the motion of Mr. Joseph Devall Sr. seconded by Mr. Griffith and carried the board approved the treasurer’s report.
On the motion of Mr. Cox, seconded by Mr. Picou and carried, the board approved the payment of the April 2024 bills.
There was no correspondence.
Under reports from commissioners Mr. Theriot asked for an update regarding dredging of the Mermentau, Mrs. Montie provided the board with that update.
There was no old business to discuss.
Under new business the board discussed the CEA Agreement with Cameron Parish Police Jury and Lease with Henry, Henry Martin and The James Henry Company for the Fisheries Facility, the Phase II Site Assessment Follow-up with Southland Environmental, amending the 2024 budget, giving the president authority to sign AOC Grant Agreement with LDWF and giving the Port Director authority to sign proposal with Honeywave Creative for a one-day website design.
On the motion of Mr. Cox, seconded by Mr. Morales and carried the board terminated the Lease for land with Henry, Henry, Martin, LLC and The James Henry Company for the fisheries facility.
On the motion of Mr. Cox, seconded by Mr. Devall and carried the board terminated the CEA with the Cameron Parish Police Jury for the fisheries Facility.
On the motion of Mr. Picou seconded by Mr. Joseph Devall Sr. and carried the board gave the president authority to sign the Phase II Site Assessment-Follow-up with Southland Environmental totaling $25,500.00.
On the motion of Mr. Picou, seconded by Mr. Morales, and carried, the board tabled amending the 2024 budget.
On the motion of Mr. Picou, seconded by Mr. Joseph Devall Sr. and carried, the board gave the president authority to sign the AOC Grant Agreement with LDWF.
On the motion of Mr. Morales, seconded by Mr. Theriot and carried, the board gave the Port Director the authority to sign proposal with Honeywave Creative for a one-day website design totaling $3,700.00.
Mrs. Kim Montie gave a staff report. She informed the board about dredging on the Cameron Loop. She let them know that the port is the Nonfederal Sponsor and that it was dredged in 2021 per the Army Corps of Engineers.
The next regular meeting will be scheduled for May 28, 2024 at 5 PM at the Cameron Parish Port Building.
There being no further business and upon motion of Mr. Joseph Devall Dr. seconded by Mr. Alfred Devall and carried, the meeting was declared adjourned.
