PROCEEDINGS
The Cameron Parish Waterworks District No. 10 met in regular session at the Waterworks office located at 6246 Gulf Beach Hwy. in Johnson Bayou on September 8, 2026, at 4:30 p.m. Members present by roll call were Connie Trahan, Nathan Griffith, Kent Carlson, and Mark Young. The member absent was Bobbie Trahan. The employees attending were Rhonda Morrison, Shannon Hebert, and Carl Trahan.
It was moved by Nathan Griffith to call the meeting to order.
The pledge was said by all present. The prayer was led by Connie Trahan.
It was moved by Connie Trahan to accept the agenda as presented with changes. The motion was seconded by Kent Carlson and carried.
A Public Comment period was given on all agenda items. No comment was made.
It was moved by Kent Carlson, seconded by Mark Young, and carried to accept the August minutes as read.
Rhonda updated the Board of Directors on the Water Sector Grant for the 2 storage tanks at the new property. No funds were appropriated for the Water Sector Program for the 2026-2027 fiscal year during the Legislative Session, therefor funding will not be available. Fenstermaker is providing information on long-term, low interest loans to seek.
The Office of Community Development grant that was awarded in 2025 in the amount of $116,666.00 has not been released to the Cameron Parish Police Jury for disbursement to the Water District.
Good news was received from FEMA. After appealing for 6 years, the relocation of the water tower has been approved. The design phase can begin for review. We are still a long way from construction but one step in the right direction.
It was moved by Mark Young to move forward with the transition to UtilitPay for the online water payments as xpresspay will no longer be supported by the billing software company. No public comment was given. The motion was seconded by Kent Carlson and carried.
It was moved by Mark Young to cancel the field employee uniforms with Cintas and to purchase uniforms outright. No public comment was made. The motion was seconded by Kent Carlson and carried.
Due to the ongoing issues with Fastwyre on the fire suppression monitoring system, it was moved by Mark Young to cancel Fastwyre for the elevator and fire alarm system and purchase cellular communication through Sylvan Specialty Systems as they are the current contracted monitoring company. No public comment was made. The motion was seconded by Connie Trahan and carried.
It was moved by Connie Trahan, seconded by Kent Carlson, and carried to approve the bank statements and the Actual vs. Budget report for the month ending August 2026.
It was moved by Mark Young, seconded by Kent Carlson, and carried to approve the bills as paid.
With no further business to discuss, it was moved by Nathan Griffith to adjourn the meeting at 5:30 p.m. R.S. 44:33.1 – Public records can be obtained by contacting Rhonda Morrison at (337) 569-2110 or 6246 Gulf Beach Hwy. in Johnson Bayou, Louisiana.
