Craig Anthony Guillory, 73, of Creole passed away peacefully, Thursday, Sept. 10, 2026 in a healthcare facility.
Craig was born and raised in Lake Charles where he was a 1972 graduate of St. Louis High School. Following graduation, he proudly served the United States Marine Corps 2nd Division at Camp LeJeune in N.C. After completing his military service, he made Creole his home, where he lived the remainder of his life. He worked a brief time for Slumberger before he began studies in conservation and law enforcement with twenty years of service as a Game Warden for Region 5. He then began a career with Cameron Parish Water Works where he retired with nearly twenty years of service.
Craig dedicated many years to Scouting, serving as a Scoutmaster and supporting his sons throughout their Scouting years. He took great pride in helping them achieve their rank as an Eagle Scout. He was an outdoorsman, worked cattle, hunted small game and doves on occasion but really enjoyed nuisance hunting, and the thrill of alligator hunting. His passion was outdoor cooking; turtle sauce piquante, catfish courtbouillon and wild game being his specialties. He loved entertaining, bringing family and friends together and cherished the unity and friendship that came with these gatherings and as great storyteller, he had a way of keeping everyone engaged and bringing energy and laughter to always.
Craig had a natural Cajun talent for working with his hands. He enjoyed crafting mosquito brushes and whittling wood, creating decoys, walking canes, and wildlife replicas. He was also skilled in leather work, with gun holsters, knife holsters and cow whips being among some of his finest creations.
He found joy in living a simple life and being close to the land. A pioneer born after his time, Craig preferred using mules over tractors and often chose to take his horse rather than his truck. He will be most remembered for his smile and as a genuine man, true to who he was. He was of Catholic faith and a member of Sacred Heart of Jesus Catholic Church.
He leaves to honor his memory, five children, Charles Allen McKinney (Ashley) of Ragley, Patrice Renee Guillory of Hayes, Va., Matthew Scott Guillory (Lori) of Big Lake, Clint Joseph Guillory of Tuscumbia, Ala. and Recia Ann Guillory of Longville; eight grandchildren, Kayllista Barr, Trestien McKinney, James Rhorer, Jospeh Hansen, Marie Guillory, Grace Guillory, Ciara Guillory and Shaun Guillory; three great-grandchildren, Chloe Barr, Haisley Barr and Harlow Hansen; one sister, Theresa Kay Jasper (Maroni) of Mauriceville, Texas; lifelong friend, Paul Reed (Paula) of Sulphur; nieces and nephews and many friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Albert Guillory and Thelma Mae Primeaux Guillory; brother-in-law, Dwayne Ray and nephew, Christopher Ray.
His funeral service was held at 10:30 a.m. Monday, Sept. 14, in the Chapel of Johnson Funeral Home in Lake Charles. Deacon Ray Menard officiated. Interment services with Military honors followed at Prien Memorial Park. Visitation Sunday was from 4 until 8 p.m. with a rosary service that began at 6 p.m. Visitation Monday resumed at 8:30 a.m. until the time of service in the funeral home.
