PROCEEDINGS 

The Hackberry Fire Protection District 1 Board met for a regular session at the Hackberry Fire Station located at 1025 Main Street on Wednesday August 12, 2026, at 6:00 p.m. 

Present: Mr. Thad Little, Mr. Colton Sanner, Mr. Lawrence Little, Mr. Robert Silver, Mr. Gerald Landry

Employees present: Sydney Bird

District members present: Chief Clint Welch, Brad Lester

Absent: Mr. Michael Fewell

Special Guest: None

The meeting was called to order by Board President Thad Little who also led the pledge and prayer.

On motion from Robert, seconded by Lawrence and carried unanimously, the minutes from July 15, 2026, were approved.

The financial report for the month of July was presented by Sydney.

On motion from Gerald, seconded by Colton and carried unanimously to approve the purchase requisition for Bunker Gear Specialist using the TC Energy Grant.

The new fire truck’s final inspection is scheduled for August 24th, 2026.

The TC Energy Grant will be used to purchase equipment from Bunker Gear Specialist.

The board will continue to discuss the plan for what to do with Engine 2 and Engine 3.

The department members will have the opportunity to make changes to the bylaws by August 24th.  A committee will review the suggested changes, and the members will vote to approve the updated by laws.

Our community event “Touch-A-Truck” is scheduled for September 24th, 2026, at 5pm.  

Clint reported on Fire Department activities and equipment/apparatus maintenance update.

There being no further business, on motion from Lawrence, seconded by Gerald and carried unanimously, the meeting was adjourned.
