Jeff Davis Electric Co-op (JDEC) was recognized as the co-op with the best safety record in the state at the annual Association of Louisiana Cooperatives (ALEC), meeting held in Baton Rouge July 26.
The award is based on man hours worked and miles driven without accidents, lost or restricted days, vehicle accidents or occupational illnesses.
“This trophy represents the little wins that matter so much each day,” said JDEC Director of Safety and Member Services Ben Hetzel. “The goal is for every employee to go home the same way they arrived. Doing the right thing is always the right choice and this award represents those choices.”
Hetzel said no one person won the award. It is a group effort that makes cultivating a positive safety culture possible. He credited the work of the Board of Directors, CEO, staff and employees.
