Shanna Nunez, 65, of Kinder died Thursday July 23, 2026 after her battle with pancreatic cancer.

Born and raised in Creole, she remained deeply connected to the place she called home until the devastation of Hurricane Rita. She later settled in Kinder.

Survivors include her son, Garrett Duddleston; daughter-in-law, Emily; two grandchildren; mother, Virgie Nunez; siblings, Rod Nunez, Janice Crochet, and Karl Nunez; and sister of heart, Trudy Broussard.

She was preceded in death by her father, Curtis Nunez, and by James Duddleston, the father of her son.

Funeral services were held Tuesday, July 28, at Johnson Funeral Home. Interment followed at Highland Memory Gardens Cemetery.
