Champagne has announced candidacy

Chelsea Carroll Champagne of Sweetlake has announced her candidacy for 38th Judicial District Court Judge in Cameron Parish. Currently serving as Cameron Parish Assistant District Attorney, Champagne has eight years of private law firm experience. She is an honor graduate of both McNeese State University and Southern University Law Center. Her roots in Cameron Parish trace back to childhood when she accompanied her parents, Brian and Melanie Carroll, on hunting excursions and visits with family friends in Hackberry. In junior high school, she competed in the Louisiana High School Rodeo Association and met rodeo athletes from Cameron Parish who became lifelong friends. Throughout junior high and high school, she excelled at both the state and national level and earned a “full ride” scholarship to compete on the McNeese State University Rodeo Team. Over the years, her connections in the community expanded into weekends in Creole, Big Lake, and Hackberry. In 2023, Champagne and her husband Dylan built their new home in Sweetlake on land they purchased in 2021, where they are raising their son Griiffey and look forward to welcoming another child. The Champagne family are parishioners of St. Mary of the Lake Catholic Church. Champagne is also active in the Cameron Lions Club, the Southwest Louisiana Bar Association and regularly volunteers for educational and charitable events in Cameron Parish.

The election date for Cameron Parish District Judge is Tuesday, Nov. 3.
