Douglas David “Doug” Fontenot, 66 of Carlyss died Thursday, Dec. 11, 2025 in a local hospital.

He was born in Sulphur and lived most of his life in Carlyss. He was a graduate of Sulphur High School and Sowela Technical Community College where he attained an Associate of Applied Science in Industrial Mechanics for Millwrights and Machinists. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge #424 and St. Theresa Catholic Church.

Survivors include his wife, Stephenie Pearson Fontenot of Sulphur; one daughter, Heidi Renee Fontenot Newton (Devin) of Denham Springs and two sisters; mother-in-law, Sissie Swire of Carlyss.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Pierre and Thelma Fontenot; one brother; and one sister.

A Mass of Christian burial was held Wednesday, Dec. 17, at St. Theresa Catholic Church. Father Sibi Kunninu officiated. Interment services followed in Mimosa Pines South Cemetery.
