Cameron Parish School Board met at 510 Marshall St. in Cameron for their regularly scheduled School Board Meeting on Monday, Oct. 13, at 5 p.m.
Jurors in attendance were: Dist. 1 – Marsha Trahan, Dist. 2 – Christi LaBove, Dist. 3 – Telesha Bertrand, Dist. 4 – Mitchel Kelley, Dist. 5 – Vickie Kiff and Dist. 6 – Sharon Picou.
Absent were Joseph Delcambre, Dist. 7 and Randall Faulk, Dist. 8.
Meeting was called to order by President Telesha Bertrand. The Prayer and Pledge were conducted.
Sharon Picou made a motion and Christy LaBove seconded to approve the agenda. Motion carried.
Sharon Picou made a motion and Christi LaBove seconded approval of the board minutes of the Sept. 8, regular meeting of the Cameron Parish School Board. Motion carried.
Bradley Pousson presented an annual report from the LSU-Cameron Extension Office to the Board. He indicated that during the youth enrollment campaign there are presently 205 students enrolled in 4-H parishwide. 4-H Shooting Sports has just begun and the Livestock Season is presently upon them. Their upcoming Service Project is Childhood Cancer Awareness to start Nov. 8.
Kathy Hayes presented financial matters. Christi LaBove made a motion and Vickie Kiffe seconded to authorize payment of the bills. Motion carried.
Christy LaBove made a motion and Vickie Kiffe seconded approval to engage with Bingham Arbitrage Rebate Services, Inc. Motion carried.
Marsha Trahan made a motion and Vickie Kiffe seconded for approval of public notice of the following:
Notice is hereby given in compliance with La. R.S. 42:19.1, that the Cameron Parish School Board in Cameron will meet in open and public session on Nov. 10, at 5 p.m., at School Board Office, 510 Marshall St., Cameron, to consider calling an election to be held on Apr. 18, 2026 in Cameron Parish, for the renewal of the levy and collection of two ad valorem property taxes, currently being collected, for the purpose of giving additional support to the maintenance, improvement and operations of the public elementary and secondary school system in Cameron Parish. Motion carried.
Christy LaBove made a motion and Vickie Kiffe seconded a resolution authorizing the cameron parish school board to proceed with the negotiation and execution of a cooperative endeavor agreement and payment in lieu of tax agreement with Cameron LNG, LLC; employing special counsel in connection therewith; and otherwise providing with respect thereto. Motion carried.
