Fax (337)775-5567 www.visitcameronparish.org MINUTES The Cameron Parish Tourist Commission held its Regular Session on Thursday, July 24, 2025, at the Grand Lake Library 10200 Gulf Hwy, Lake Charles, LA 70607. The meeting was called to order at 4:02 p.m. by Chairperson Carolyn Miller. Joe Ann Labove led the Pledge of Allegiance followed by the opening prayer. COMMISSIONERS PRESENT: Carolyn Miller, Chairman; Vicki Little, Vice Chairman; Michele Long, Secretary; Joe Ann Labove, Geralyn Myers, Telesha Bertrand, and Susan Boudreaux ABSENT: None GUESTS: None PUBLIC COMMENT: None APPROVAL OF MINUTES: Pending draft minutes of the previous meeting were distributed to all board members via email prior to the meeting. A motion to approve the June 26, 2025, minutes as presented was made by Susan Boudreaux, seconded by Vicki Little, and passed unanimously. The approved minutes will be published in the Cameron Pilot, the paper of record. CORRESPONDENCE: The Louisiana Ornithological Society (LOS) Birders submitted their biannual sponsorship request for their upcoming event scheduled for October 24–25. The Board confirmed the previously authorized $400 sponsorship—approved during the June 2, 2024, meeting—to cover the cost of the group’s meal on October 24, 2025. TREASURER’S REPORT: A motion to approve the June 2025 financial report as presented was made by Susan Boudreaux, seconded by Geralyn Myers, and passed unanimously. REVIEW AND PAYMENT OF BILLS: A motion to approve the payment of $181.92 for Google Workspace to the Dev. Department was made by Susan Boudreaux, seconded by Telesha Bertrand, and passed unanimously. OLD BUSINESS: Ratify Recurring Charges: A motion to approve the recurring charges for the Cameron Pilot & Google Workspace was made by Susan Boudreaux, seconded by Joe Ann Labove, and passed unanimously. The Board reviewed the Tourism Commission’s social media presence and the newly updated website. Commissioners were asked to carefully review the website and submit any corrections or updates to ensure all information is accurate and current.

The Commission is in ongoing discussions with the Southwest Louisiana Wildlife Refuge Visitors’ Center regarding support to help keep the center open. Plans include donating time and creating a structured volunteer program to assist with operations, benefiting both tourists and local residents. Vicki Little reported that she has reached out to the Cameron Parish School District superintendent to explore opportunities for project-based learning and internships. This initiative would allow high school students to gain practical experience by contributing to the center’s activities.
Vicki Little provided an update on the grant writing workshop she recently attended. She noted that the insights and skills gained from the workshop will support the Commission’s efforts in securing funding, improving infrastructure, and advancing economic development initiatives.
