Cheryl Broussard Powell, 59, died Friday, Aug. 8, 2025, at Ochsner Acadia General Hospital.

She was born in Lake Charles. She was a native of Grand Lake and lived most of her adult life in Lake Charles. She is a 1983 graduate of Grand Lake High School and a 1990 graduate of Clark College. She worked as a Merchandiser/Cashier for O’Reilly Auto Parts. She was a member of Big Lake Gospel Tabernacle.

She is survived by her daughters, Candace Broussard (Joshua) of Gueydan, and Miranda Miller (Terry) of Opelousas; mother, Ella Morvant Broussard of Grand Lake; eight grandchildren; three great grandchildren; sisters, Susan Mahon and Janet Scott; brothers, Stephen Broussard and Gaylord Broussard.

She was preceded in death by her father, Etienne Broussard, Jr.; grandson, Xander G. Miller; one sister; and one brother.

A memorial service was held Saturday, Aug. 30, at Christian Family Fellowship Church of Christ in Jennings. Pastor Aaron Doxey officiated Cremation and arrangements have been entrusted to Matthews Funeral Home of Jennings.
