Monday morning, Aug. 4, Cheniere Energy provided breakfast for the entire Cameron Parish School Board staff during their parishwide Back To School Professional Development Day.
Cheniere also delivered incredible news: a PILOT proposal that will allow Cameron Parish School Board’s current stipend plan to increase from 7% to 14%. That means staff will now receive two 14% stipend checks — one in November and one in May — through May 2028.
This aligns perfectly with CPSB’s 2028 as well as beyond their anticipated salary schedule, which was approved by the CPSB this past April and set to take effect on July 1, 2028.
Superintendent Charley Lemons in a statement on their social media expressed, “We are truly grateful for Cheniere’s continued commitment to our students, staff, and schools. Their support makes a real difference in Cameron Parish!”
There were many special guests who took time out of their busy schedules to join CPSB to include: Assistant District Attorney Michael Cassidy, Sheriff Chris Savoie and Don Bertrand. Additionally State Representative Ryan Bourriaque stopped by and shared words of encouragement and support with the staff. CPSB expressed that their presence and leadership meant a great deal to them as they kicked off a new school year.
CPSB Board Members in attendance showing support to staff were: Telesha Bertrand, Marsha Trahan, Christi LaBove, and Mitchel Kelley.
