There was a regular meeting of the Board of Commissioners of Gravity Drainage District 9 at 6:00 p.m., Monday, May 19, 2025, at the Hackberry Waterworks Office, 1190 Main St., Hackberry, LA 70645.
Members Present: Wesley Hardin, Jared Desormeaux, Bobby Stansel, Gordon Gremillion
Absent: Will Aucoin
Employees Present: Brad Hinton and Shaun Kyle
The meeting was called to order by president Wesley Hardin and the following business was discussed.
On motion of Bobby Stansel, seconded by Jared Desormeaux and carried unanimously the Board approved the previous meeting minutes.
Updates were given on the School House Marsh project. Brad will apply for the DOTD permit to install the culvert for the access road.
Employee evaluation review was tabled until next month to enable all Board members to turn in their evaluations.
Updates were given by Brad Hinton on lateral maintenance. The pipe repair for Binky Buford was completed and he presented a list of project suggestions for board consideration at the next field meeting. The board asked to get new pricing for aerial spraying of the laterals.
On motion of Jared Desormeaux, seconded by Bobby Stansel and all present board members voting YEA, the Board elected to adopt the 2025 millage rate.
On motion of Jared Desormeaux, seconded by Gordon Gremillion and carried unanimously the Board elected to reactivate the same employee for the Summer Youth Work Program as last year and not to add a second student employee.
On motion of Jared Desormeaux, seconded by Bobby Stansel and carried unanimously the Board elected to accept the lowest bid submitted by Speed Construction for the sewer system installation at the property on Legion St.
On motion of Jared Desormeaux, seconded by Bobby Stansel and carried unanimously the Board accepted the April 2025 Financial Report and Actual vs Budget Report.
On motion of Gordon Gremillion, seconded by Bobby Stansel and carried unanimously the Board approved all invoices for payment.
On motion of Gordon Gremillion, seconded by Jared Desormeaux and carried unanimously the meeting was adjourned.
