Cameron Parish Mosquito Abatement District No. 1

The monthly meeting of the Board of Directors of Cameron Parish Mosquito Abatement District No. 1 was held at 6:00 p.m., January 30, 2025 at the Cameron Parish Mosquito Control Office. Board members present were Mitchel Kelley, Thomas Cox, James Boudreaux, and Bryce Carpenter. Karl Styron, Robert Trahan, and Marck Smythe were absent.
The meeting was called to order by Thomas Cox, who then asked for the reading of the minutes from the last meeting, December 2, 2025. A motion was made by Mitchel Kelley, seconded by James Boudreaux, and carried that the minutes be approved as printed. A motion was made by James Boudreaux, seconded by Bryce Carpenter, and carried to approve the financial statement.
In new business, Mitchel Kelley made the motion seconded by James Boudreaux, and carried to leave the officers as is.
Next James Boudreaux made a motion, seconded by Mitchel Kelley, and carried to approve a letter of support from the Mosquito Control board for Commonwealth’s application to the Foreign Trade Zone Board.
Next, Mitchel Kelley made a motion, seconded by Bryce Carpenter to engage the CPA for the 2024 audit, which will be Coy Vincent with Gragson, Casiday, and Guillory, LLP
Then Mitchel Kelley made a motion, seconded by Bryce Carpenter and carried to renew the back up pilots contracts with no changes from previous year. An additional back up pilot was also discussed and will be decided upon when the plane comes back from its annual inspection.
James Boudreaux then made a motion, seconded by Mitchel Kelley, and carried to approve the sell of the surplus vehicle through Pedersen auction and the surplus tail gates through GovDeals.
Then chemical bids and contingency aerial contract bids were opened and reviewed. Bids were as follows:

Mitchel Kelley, then made a motion, seconded by James Boudreaux, and carried to approve the lowest bids.
The next meeting will be decided at a later date. There being no further business, James Boudreaux made a motion, seconded by Mitchel Kelley, and carried to adjourn the meeting.
