MINUTES
The Cameron Parish Tourist Commission held its Regular Session on Thursday, January 16, 2025, at the Cameron Parish Police Jury Conference Room in Cameron, Louisiana. The meeting commenced at 4:11 p.m., chaired by Carolyn Miller, who led the Pledge of Allegiance and the prayer.
COMMISSIONERS PRESENT: Carolyn Miller, Chairman; Vicki Little, Vice Chairman; Michele Long, Secretary; Susan Boudreaux and Geralyn Myers. Telesha Bertrand and Joe Ann Labove participated via phone call for informational and discussion purposes only.

PUBLIC COMMENT: None
APPROVAL OF MINUTES: The minutes of the previous meeting were distributed to all board members via email prior to the meeting and published in the Cameron Pilot as well as on the Cameron Parish Tourism website. A motion to approve the November 21, 2024 minutes as presented was made by Geralyn Myers, seconded by Susan Boudreaux, and passed unanimously.
CORRESPONDENCE: Michele Long provided updates on meetings with Audubon Delta Mississippi, and other wildlife and conservation organizations to encourage collaboration on various initiatives in Cameron Parish.
TREASURER’S REPORT: A motion to accept the November 2024 financial report as presented was made by Vicki Little, seconded by Susan Boudreaux, and unanimously approved by the board.
REVIEW AND PAYMENT OF BILLS: A motion to approve payment of $525 for membership dues to Louisiana Travel Association was made by Susan Boudreaux, seconded by Michele Long, and unanimously carried by the board.
OLD BUSINESS:
Ratify Recurring Charges: A motion to approve the recurring charges for the Development Department and the Cameron Pilot was made by Michele Long, seconded by Geralyn Myers, and unanimously carried by the board.
Calendar of Events:
The board will keep exploring and promoting events to showcase Cameron Parish.

Social Media and Website Update: The board discussed social media and website goals for the year.
NEW BUSINESS:
The board deliberated on potential 2025 objectives, including developing a new brochure featuring a detailed map and content highlighting Cameron Parish, as well as producing a promotional birding video dedicated exclusively to the region.
A motion to authorized reimbursement for mileage, lodging, and food expenses incurred by board members wishing to participate in upcoming Department of Tourism and/or Louisiana Travel Association workshops and/or conferences was made by Vicki Little, seconded by Susan Boudreaux, and passed unanimously.
Bylaw updates, board composition and responsibilities, standing rules, and the importance of regular meeting attendance were discussed.
A motion to approve Carolyn Miller as board chairman was made by Michele Long, seconded by Susan Boudreaux, and passed unanimously.
A motion to approve Vicki Little as board vice-chairman was made by Michele Long, seconded by Susan Boudreaux, and passed unanimously.
A motion to approve Michele Long as board secretary/treasurer was made by Susan Boudreaux, seconded by Vicki Little and passed unanimously.

UPDATES:
Michele Long announced that the Love the Boot-Keep Cameron Parish Beautiful Beach Cleanup is scheduled for April 12, 2025. She also presented the proposed rendering for the future Holly Beach restrooms and informed the board about Cheniere’s $30,000 matching donation.
Carolyn Miller announced that the Cameron Preservation Alliance successfully secured the designation for the historic Cameron Parish Courthouse.
ANNOUNCEMENTS:
Financial Disclosure Statements must be submitted on or before May 15, 2025. Ethics and Prevention of Sexual Harassment Trainings are required to be completed by December 31, 2025. NEXT MEETINGS: 2025 Meeting Schedule: Third Thursday of every month. Next meeting is scheduled for February 20, 2025.
Adjournment: A motion to adjourn was made by Michele Long, seconded by Vicki Little, and unanimously carried by the board at 6:11 p.m.
