The Lower Cameron Hospital Service District No. 2 met on October 2, 2024 at 5:30 pm and meeting was called to order, Board members in attendance were: Lynn Griffith, Allison Romero, Rhonda Coleman and April Young
The prayer and pledge were recited.
On the motion of Mrs. Coleman, seconded by Mrs. Romero the Board approved the agenda.
Mrs. Coleman announced attendees and guests present which were Scotty Badon, April Trahan and Mrs. Tressie Brunson with West Cal Cam Hospital.
On the motion of Mrs. Young, seconded by Mrs. Coleman, the Board approved the minutes from the May 21, 2024 meeting.
The Board discussed the following business:
Old Business
Generator has been installed and is in proper working order, no issues at this time. Fence to be built around generator to eliminate any safety hazards.
Maintenance personnel to replace hand rails – will reach out to get quotes for an estimated expense
New Business
On the motion of Mrs. Coleman, seconded by Ms. Romero, the Board accepted the resignation of Board Member Wendy Harrington.
On the motion of Mrs. Coleman, seconded by Mrs. Young, the Board tabled the agenda item stating appointment of new board member to the next meeting.
On the motion of Mrs. Coleman, seconded by Mrs. Young, the board took no action on appointment of President or Vice President at this time, due to vacancy created by resignation of Mrs. Harrington, the matter will be addressed at the December 2024 meeting.
Appointment of new board member to replace Mrs. Harrington will be done at the next Cameron Parish Police Jury meeting- Mrs. Vickie Trahan will be the appointee- Opinion received from Cameron Parish District Attorney to ensure no ethical conflict regarding appointment of new board member
Discussion of WCCH Financials – tabled due to Mrs. Brunson not attending meeting
Discussion of banking information received from Mrs. Griffith –
Discussed the yearly budget and at this time the budget is in alignment
Patient visits/numbers are down from the previous year
Discussion regarding Waste Management services- discussion of cancelling contract and possible negotiations for a better priced contract or possible termination in full of parish can service the needs of garbage disposal
Discussion of checking account balance
Discussion regarding continuing case for fraudulent checks and will follow up with Cameron Parish Sheriff Office
On the motion of Mrs. Coleman, seconded by Ms. Romero, the Board received the financials as presented by Mrs. Griffith.
On the motion of Mrs. Coleman, seconded by Mrs. Young, the Board approved sponsorship of the LA Fur and Wildlife Festival 2025 as a Bronze Sponsor in the amount of $1,000.
On the motion of Mrs. Coleman, seconded by Mrs. Young, the Board approved sponsorship for Johnson Bayou High School Athletic Department in the purchase of a Sponsorship Banner at a cost of $500.
On the motion of Mrs. Coleman, seconded by Mrs. Griffith, the Board approved to adjourn the meeting.
