The Hackberry Fire Protection District 1 Board met for a regular session at the Hackberry Fire Station located at the 1025 Main Street on Monday June 17, 2024, at 6:00 p.m. Members presents by roll call were Mr. Curtis Fountain, Mr. Gerald Landry, Mr. Butch Little, Mr. Robert Silver, and Mr. Thad Little. Police Juror, Mr. Michael Fewel was present along with District members Chief Mark Granger, Assistant Chief Clint Welch, Member Glenn Welch, and employee Ms. Destiny Seay. No guest attended.
The meeting was called to order by Mr. Thad Little. The Pledge and Prayer was led by Gerald Landry. Roll was then taken by Mr. Thad Little. On motion from Mr. Curtis Fountain, seconded by Mr. Butch Little and carried unanimously, the minutes from May 20, 2024, were dismissed.
Monthly financial reports for the month of February were given by Ms. Destiny Seay. New purchase requisitions were then reviewed to be accepted. New office furniture was approved on the motion of Mr. Gerald, seconded by Mr. Robert and carried unanimously. A new lawn mower was then approved on motion of Mr. Butch, seconded by Mr. Robert and carried unanimously.
Under old business, Chief Granger reviewed the status of projects for the district: 1. Scopes of work for contract repairs on the fire station. 2. The status and options for the new fire engine replacement. 3. Clearing of the land behind the fire department. 5. The Automatic Aid Agreement for structural fires.
Under new business the following was discussed: 1. Chief Granger spoke about the response run report along with Emergent Medical Response training. Two bids for the white 2003 Ford F350 were then opened. The first bid was from JJ Merchant for $2,377.77 and the second bid was from Mr. Anthony Hicks for $2,800.28. The highest bid from Mr. Anthony Hicks was then accepted on motion from Mr. Gerald Landry, seconded by Mr. Robert Silver and carried unanimously.
There being no further business, on the motion of Mr. Curtis, seconded by Mr. Gerald and carried unanimously, the meeting was declared adjourned.
