Jake’s take on the Hornets:

After a two year stint in Class 2A which saw the Hornets do exceptionally well, GLHS will drop back down to Class 1A. I would imagine they’ll be favored to win District 4-1A which will feature other schools such as Oberlin, Hamilton Christian, Basile, Elton, and Merryville.

The key to success for the Hornets in 2024 will be first and foremost setting the tone early and controlling the line of scrimmage. Also the Hornets will need to control the clock and they have done a great job of that the past few years running the split back veer offense which wears down opposing defenses. Grand Lake is known to come right at you and knock you down. I’d expect the same sledge hammer mentality from Coach Wainwright and his Grand Lake Hornets.
