Jimmy Lee January was born in Cameron. He died on Thursday, May 23, 2024, in Lake Charles, at the age of 79.

Jimmy dedicated over 40 years working offshore demonstrating a steadfast commitment to his profession leaving a lasting impact on his colleagues and the industry.

He leaves to cherish his memory his children, Terrence (Gail) January, Sr. of Iowa, Laurette January of Lake Charles, Demetri (Gary) Browe of Powder Springs, Ga., and Randy January of Morocco, Africa; seven grandchildren, two great-grandchildren, and one great-great-grandchild; two sisters Annie (Phillip) Johnson of Bolivia, NC and Mary Jane January of Lafayette.

He was preceded in death by his parents, James “Jim Black” Arthur January and Raine Mayne; wife, Barbara Johnson January; stepfather, Sherman Mayne; two sisters, Dorothy J. Major and Joyce J. Grissett and five brothers, Vallin, Martin, A.J., Leonard, and John January.
