Minutes of Proceedings of the South Cameron Fire Department
South Cameron Fire Department met in regular session on May 23rd,2024.
The meeting was called to order at 5:41 pm by President Pro Tem Kevin Vincent
The pledge of Allegiance was led by Kevin Vincent.
Members Present were Kevin Vincent, Suzie Fawvor, and James Boudreaux and a quorum was determined.
Members absent were Armand Richard IV.
It was unanimously carried that two (2) items be added to the agenda.
13. Purchase of four (4) Full SCBAs and 4 extra SCBA oxygen cylinders from MES
14. Policy change: Police Jury Off-Duty Firefighters response
On a motion by James Boudreaux and seconded by Suzie Fawvor, the financial statements were approved.
The Minutes of the previous meeting were approved on a motion by James Boudreaux and seconded by Suzie Fawvor.
Former President Tammy Peshoff resigned; it was acknowledged that Kevin Vincent is to hold the seat of President Pro Tempore.
Election of the Vice-President was tabled on a motion by James Boudreaux and seconded by Suzie Fawvor.
The board members discussed the recommendation of a new board member from the Cameron Area to be brought to the Districts Police Juror.
On a motion by James Boudreaux & seconded by Suzie Fawvor, it was moved to accept the quote from Big Tex Trailers for a utility trailer in the amount of $6,932.73.
On a motion by James Boudreaux & seconded by Suzie Fawvor, it was moved to grant authority to Chief Dupont to contract with Municipal Emergency Services to service and repair all SCBAs owned by the South Cameron Fire Department.
Additions to the Agenda:
13. On a motion by James Boudreaux and seconded by Suzie Fawvor and carried, to allow the purchase of four (4) Full SCBAs and four (4) extra oxygen cylinders from Municipal Emergency Services (MES).
14. On a motion by James Boudreaux and seconded by Suzie Fawvor, it was carried to make changes to the South Cameron Fire Department’s policy concerning Police Jury Parish Firefighters response. “Parish Police Jury Firefighters that live outside of the response district and that are compensated through the Cameron Parish Police Jury, are NOT to respond to fire calls during OFF DUTY hours unless requested by the Fire Chief or his Designee. Parish Police Jury Firefighters that live within the district are strongly encouraged to respond to all calls for service on or off duty”.
Chief Dupont gave his Chief’s Report
It was moved by James Boudreaux and seconded by Suzie Fawvor to adjourn the meeting at 6:16 pm.
