School records broken at South Cameron

Multiple South Cameron High School records were broken last week at the Class C state track meet at LSU.

Senior Chad LaPoint broke four school records including the 100 m previously held by Colby Beniot in 2014, 100 m hurdle which was previously held by Gilberto Morales in 2015, javelin which was previously held by Brandt James in 2016, and long jump which was previously held by Tyler LaBove in 2017.

Senior Brystin Whittington also broke the SCHS 300 m hurdle record which was previously held by Tylor Skipper in 2015.

LaPoint placed 1st in long jump, 1st in the 100m hurdles, 3rd in 100m dash, 4th in the 4×100 relay, and was overall most outstanding male athlete for class C.

Whittington placed 4th in pole vault, and 4th in the 4×100 relay.

Jayden Nunez placed 4th in the 4×100 relay,

Miguel Castillo placed 4th in the 4×100 relay,

Reagan Veronie placed 1st in javelin, and

Lexi Hooper placed 2nd in pole vault.
